Logo placement is a concept that many of our new clients have questions about. They’ve put in the time to get a logo that works for them. They’ve come up with (at least loose) branding for their company. But it grinds to a halt there. They know it needs to be on their business cards, website, socials. Now what?
The Key to Effective Logo Placement
The key to effective logo placement is to choose locations that make sense for your industry. We at Polarity Design are in a creative industry. Most people are on their computers or smartphones when they’re talking to/working with us. For us, it makes the most sense to brand techy or trendy items that people are looking at when they think of our services. Airpod holders, ring lights, pop sockets, or even pens and notebooks are good items for us. If someone needs to jot down a note about their business, Polarity branding will keep us top of mind for their marketing needs.
It would make less sense to put our logo on hair brushes or a tool set. Sure, someone may get the wild hair (ha, get it?) to call us while blow drying their hair in the morning, but it’s not the ideal time to think about us. The same goes for fixing their sink.
How to Choose Good Locations
Some logo placements are pretty industry-neutral. Obviously signage outside your space, car wraps or window decals, apparel, and even pens work for pretty much everything.
Another tip is to think of your business and any items that might make sense. As mentioned above, a hair brush and/or comb would work really well for hair stylists. A tool set or mini tape measure is great for many trades: plumbing, electrical, contractors, and handymen. Refrigerator magnets also work really well for those types of companies because people are often in their kitchens when they’re thinking about the thing in their home they want fixed.
IT companies do well when they choose mousepads (bonus if it comes with a wireless mouse) and pens for their logo placement. If their logo is cool enough that people want to use it decoratively, they also do well with stickers and decals that people slap onto their laptop. Along that same vein, laptop bags and sleeves are great as well.
Surprisingly, water bottles and tumblers do well, too. Why? Many people carry a water bottle around all day, and usually have one sitting next to them while they work.
Water bottles, cups, and tumblers work for a variety of industries for that exact reason. They’re worth keeping in mind.

These, of course, are just ideas to get your clever juices flowing. We always tell clients that if you can think of an item, it can probably be branded. That sentence is super broad and overwhelming, though, so having a list of things other people have done can be helpful!

Once you put your logo in the basic places (website, socials, business cards, etc.), it’s a great use of your marketing budget to brand other items. Industry-neutral places like signage on your building, as well as apparel, are great for visibility across your town.
